Malaysia home-grown Souper Tang restaurant, renowned for serving some of the best and most authentic Chinese herbal cuisine, has opened its newest outlet at Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.
The official grand launch on Nov 8, 2024 was officiated by Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general (Promotion II) Samuel Lee Thai Hung.
In his speech, Lee said, “I believe Souper Tang embodies the spirit of Malaysia’s diverse culinary heritage, bringing to life Chinese traditions in a way that resonates with all Malaysians.
“As we strive to make Malaysia a culinary hub in Southeast Asia, establishments like Souper Tang play an essential role in preserving the unique flavors, techniques and stories of Chinese cuisine while embracing our nation’s rich multicultural identity.
“I hope this new outlet inspires visitors to experience Malaysia’s vibrant culture and warm hospitality firsthand.
“Let us continue working together to showcase the best of Malaysia to the world and be ever-ready to greet our tourists with a warm Selamat Datang.”
The event emphasized the importance of wellness tourism and culinary heritage. Souper Tang’s role in advancing these themes aims to support the upcoming ‘Visit Malaysia 2026’ campaign.
The grand opening festivities included a ribbon cutting ceremony, traditional Chinese dance, lion dance and a soup-pouring ceremony by celebrity actor Jack Lim, who also invited over 50 lucky fans to join a special interactive session where he distributed Souper Tang vouchers and gifts.
Souper Tang Group chief executive officer and managing director Nevinn Leow in his speech said the opening of the new outlet at Mid Valley Megamall was a significant step in its mission to make Chinese wellness cuisine more accessible to a broader audience.
“As we continue to expand across Malaysia and beyond, our commitment to offering authentic, health-conscious dining remains at the forefront.

Also present at the event were Souper Tang group chairman Leow Fong Kam, Souper Tang founder and executive director Macinndhia Teh Kim Hong, former Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports Ti Lian Ker, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s ESG head deputy director Edison Choong, ASEAN Retail-Chain & Franchise Association (ARFF) president Mike Loh, Mid Vallet City CEO Rennie Lee Chai Tin and celebrity artiste Jack Lim.
Others present included representatives of the business community and leaders from prominent business associations, including Malaysia Retail-Chain Association (MRCA), Branding Association Malaysia (BAM), Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MBHA), SME Association, Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysian Association of Themepark & Family Attractions (MATFA), and the Malaysia Association of Hotels (MAH).
Established in 2009 as Taang Shifu, Souper Tang has become a pioneer in promoting Chinese wellness cuisine, with 17 outlets nationwide and new locations set to open in Singapore.
The restaurant offers nutritious, carefully crafted signature recipes, featuring ingredients like ginseng, cordyceps, and angelica root, bringing generations-old culinary traditions to modern diners.
In addition to its focus on authentic and health-conscious cuisine, Souper Tang is committed to sustainability by sourcing ingredients responsibly, ensuring that each dish supports not only the health of its customers but also the well-being of the community and the environment.
With Mid Valley being Souper Tang’s 17th outlet in Malaysia, the brand is now available nationwide in Johor, Klang Valley, Penang, Malacca and Perak.
Located at Level 1, South Court, Mid Valley Megamall the new Souper Tang outlet offers a range of products, including bird’s nests and specially curated hampers, providing customers with more ways to enjoy their wellness-focused offerings.
