Sime Darby Beyond Auto Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors and the sole distributor of BYD electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia, has joined forces with property developer Scientex Bhd to promote greater EV adoption across various housing developments, contributing to the nation’s efforts in embracing eco-friendly practices.

In support of the EV initiative, Scientex plans to establish EV charging stations at selected locations within its nationwide housing developments, fostering a greener and more sustainable lifestyle within these communities.

The collaboration between the two companies took a significant step forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to become marketing campaign partners for Scientex’s upcoming Mori Residences 2 condominium project in Rawang, Selangor.

This development embodies Scientex’s commitment to promoting sustainability and mobility, as it adopts GreenRE criteria, and will feature environmentally responsible design and EV charging stations conveniently accessible to the residents.

Sime Darby Beyond Auto signs MOU with Scientex to promote EV adoption and install chargers within Scientex’s housing developments in the country.

The MoU was signed by Scientex chief executive officer Lim Peng Jin and Sime Darby Motors South-East Asia, Hong Kong and Macau retail and distribution managing director Jeffrey Gan.

Also present to witness this signing session was Scientex Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Alex Khaw Giet Thye, executive director Tay Ee Ran, BYD Malaysia deputy general manager Tay Ee Ran and Sime Darby Beyond Auto head of sales Calvin Sze-Tho.

Gan said the collaboration with Scientex is a testament to its shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

“We are excited to leverage our leading EV technology to contribute to Scientex’s vision of sustainable growth and a greener future,” he said.

Sime Darby Beyond Auto has recently launched BYD’s second electric vehicle in Malaysia, the BYD Dolphin hatchback EV with 44.9kWh and 60.4kWh battery packs, while the BYD Atto 3 EV is the first BYD car launched in Malaysia in December last year.

Lim said the collaboration with Sime Darby Beyond Auto marked a significant milestone in their pursuit of a more sustainable future.

“Together, we are determined to make affordable homes and sustainable mobility solutions accessible to all Malaysians, creating a positive difference in the lives of the community.”
