Sika Malaysia, a company dealing in specialty chemicals for construction, industrial and automotive markets, has opened its new headquarters in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, consolidating key business functions under one roof to improve operational efficiency and better support its expanding workforce and customer base.

The facility brings together 150 employees from commercial and support functions in a centralized workspace that enhances cross-department coordination, speeds up decision-making, and strengthens internal collaboration.

The company’s production of products reaches 75% of the local market through its manufacturing plants in Nilai, Teluk Gong, Bukit Raja, Ipoh, Senai, Gelang Patah and Kota Kinabalu with Nilai functioning as the primary production site.

The Bukit Raja plant functions as a vital distribution center for specialty flooring systems that serve the entire Asian market.

“We’re encouraged by what we see in the market. Industrial growth, digital infrastructure, and more complex construction requirements are all pushing the sector forward,” said Francisco Retondo, general manager of Sika Malaysia. “Our role is to help customers build better – not just stronger buildings, but more durable and efficient ones that are built to last.”

Looking ahead, the company expects steady growth, fueled by a healthy project pipeline and client demand for more specialized construction inputs.

“There’s still a long runway,” added Retondo. “We’re having meaningful conversations with clients who are planning for the long term, and we’re ready to support that.”

Sustainability continues to be a priority across Sika’s operations. The company is targeting net-zero emissions by 2050 and is adopting solar energy at its facilities, using electric forklifts, and increasing the use of supplementary cementitious materials to reduce environmental impact.

Beyond emissions, the company is working on smarter sourcing -incorporating renewable or recycled raw materials, and cutting down on packaging waste.

Sika Malaysia closed 2024 with over 15% revenue growth and is targeting 10% to 15% growth in 2025, well above the construction industry’s national forecast of 5.4%.

Sika, headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, operates globally across more than 100 countries while maintaining operations in Malaysia for over 30 years. The company has delivered materials together with technical expertise to major national projects including Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit, Merdeka 118, Penang Bridge, an upcoming data center in Elmina Park and residential developments nationwide.
