School teacher named Nestum Bake-Off Challenge winner

A 35-year-old school teacher from Kuala Lumpur, Chow Yin Yin, was announced the grand prize winner with her innovative Rose Tart recipe in the final of the Nestum Bake-Off Challenge competition.

The Nestum Bake-Off Challenge was launched as part of Nestum Reka Rasa Raya 2023 campaign from March 1 to April 30, 2023, in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations.

Chow won the grand prize of RM15,000 for her victory and an exclusive baking MasterClass with Gula Cakery founder Arieni Adriena.

“Nestum is truly incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of recipes, not only baking but in cooking other dishes as well. I was very happy to see the dishes made by participants, as there were many great recipes to learn from them.

“I look forward to learning new skills from Arieni Adriena at her MasterClass and hope to increase my confidence,” said an excited Chow.

The Nestum Bake-Off Challenge saw contestants displayed their creativity and skills to create edible masterpieces in the baking competition.

Wong Eu Khean, business executive officer, dairy and adult nutrition business unit at Nestle Malaysia said, “The Bake-Off Challenge is part of our efforts to encourage Malaysians to explore the versatility that Nestum has to offer in cooking and baking, to create easy and delicious dishes.

“Nestum’s multigrain goodness can be easily added to recipes to elevate taste and nutrition, as a good source of dietary fibre and other essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, iron, vitamin C and D.”

Wong added, “Apart from the great prizes, we provided the contestants with the opportunity to test their skills and receive advice from experienced mentors during the challenge, which we hope will support them in their entrepreneurial journey as bakers.”

Eight other contestants were each awarded with RM3,000 cash vouchers for their creations which included Nestum Kurma & Prune Puff, Nestum Shortbread with Orange Mousse, and Nestum Cheesecake Baklava, among others.

The Nestum Reka Rasa Raya campaign offered prizes totalling RM100,000 with 450 weekly winners, and culminated in the Bake-Off Challenge with nine contestants vied for the grand prize of RM15,000.

The Bake-Off Challenge saw participants displayed their creativity and skills, whipping up a variety of treats, using Nestum’s products in cooking and baking, from the Nestum 3-in-1 range available in different flavours, to Nestum All Family Cereal.

All the recipes were evaluated by a panel of judges based on criteria such as creativity and recipe originality, appearance and presentation and ease of preparation.
