Resorts World Genting launches Genting Culinary Classic cooking competition and Tourist Privilege Program

Resorts World Genting (RWG) has launched its first-ever Genting Culinary Classic cooking competition and a Tourist Privilege Program, in conjunction with RWG’s 60th anniversary.

Set to take place on June 10 and 11, 2025 at Genting International Showroom, the Genting Culinary Classic 2025 aims to showcase Malaysia’s culinary skills and rich culinary heritage while inspiring the next generation of culinary talent.

The launch event was held at Resorts World Awana on March 14, 2025 attended by Tourism Malaysia package development deputy director Ahmad Husni Ahmad Basri, HAPA founder and group chief executive officer Jennifer Ong, RWG executive vice president (sales, marketing and public relations) Spencer Lee, RWG food and beverage vice president Khew Choon Teck, RWG head of tenancy management CC Yeap and Resorts World Awana executive vice president Peter Foster.

The inaugural Genting Culinary Classic 2025, in collaboration with Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards (Hapa) will focus on Malaysian cuisine.

The competition will serve as a platform for hidden talents in home kitchens, rising stars in restaurant, food enthusiasts and industry professionals to demonstrate their culinary skills, passion and artistry in Malaysian cuisine.

This annual hallmark event is set to elevate Malaysia’s reputation as a global culinary destination, offering chefs a career-defining exposure while encouraging collaboration and innovation in the hospitality industry.

Twenty finalist chefs will be selected based on their quality, innovation and creativity to compete in the grand finals.

The competition will be judged by a panel of five culinary experts, including celebrity chefs and renowned food critics.

The top five winners will walk away with prestigious titles and cash prizes, including RM25,000 grand prize for the Grand National Winner.

The winning dishes will be featured at RWG’s world-class dining outlets.
