With the nation’s blood supply constantly in need of replenishing during the pandemic, Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) facilities organised the blood donation drives to help boost supply at the National Blood Centre (Pusat Darah Negara).
About 200 packs of blood were successfully collected from thepublic and volunteers from the hospitals under the group through blood donation drives in 2021.
“During these challenging times, it is heart-warming to see Malaysians doing their part to boost the country’s blood supply. We are grateful for this simple act of giving blood that can have a tremendous life-altering impact. With blood being a vital necessity, there is always a need to ensure the nation’s blood bank is sufficiently equipped,” said a RSDH spokesperson.
RSDH is recognised as a provider of quality private healthcare through its four hospitals, namely Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Ara Damansara Medical Centre, ParkCity Medical Centre and Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre (formerly known as Manipal Hospitals Klang).
Ara Damansara Medical Centre (ADMC) held its blood donation drive twice in 2021, and donors included the hospital’s corporate clients. The hospital plans to continue its efforts with the first blood donation drive expected early this year in conjunction with its 10th anniversary.
At ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC), the blood donation drive was themed ‘Give the Gift of Blood and Be a Superhero’ and donors comprised mainly the hospital staff and the public from surrounding Desa ParkCity community.
The blood drive is part of RSDH’s corporate social responsibility effort under the umbrella of RSD Cares and its commitment to living up to its motto of ‘People Caring for People’.
Meanwhile Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre (BTMC) held its blood donation drive in collaboration with Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang. BTMC plans to run two blood donation drives annually to ensure supply of blood are adequate and readily available.
RSDH’s flagship hospital Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) has its own blood bank which is usually restocked over the year with blood donated by staff and the public.
“Through RSD Cares, our hospitals give back to the community via various large- and small-scale initiatives that can contribute towards people’s health and well-being. With more such blood drives planned this year, we aim to increase the total amount of blood collected with the help of the caring public and hospital staff,” added the RSDH spokesperson.
