Residents from Petaling Jaya Section 21 and 22 highlighted their concern to Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed and his team during the “Face to Face with OCPD PJ” programme in SEA Park on Saturday 7th May 2011.

The ‘Face-to-Face” programme introduced in 2009 to bring the police closer to the community took place on Saturday 7th May 2011 at the Section 21 SEA Park Rukun Tetangga (RT) centre in Jalan 21/19 between 10.00 am and 12.30 pm.

The programme provided the residents a unique opportunity to speak, face-to-face, with the dedicated officers, who policed their neighbourhoods, to discuss issues and concerns pertaining to security, safety and crime prevention and provide feedback to the police.

ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the police were committed to working closely with residents to fight crime together and keep peace.

“Close cooperation between police and residents is necessary in reducingcrime,” Arjunaidi said.

Section 21 SEA Park Rukun Tetangga chairman Gan Keng hoped the residents would take the chance to ask questions and raise concerns at the meeting between police and residents.

Senior police officers from various departments including the OCS of SEA Park police station Inspector Gunam Resul bin Gulam Mohammad were on hand to offer crime prevention advice, information and support to the residents on the issues raised by them.

During the event, there were several activities held by the police and Rukun Tetangga such as illicit drug sniffing demonstration by police K9 unit, exhibition by police traffic unit, lion dance and Indian traditional music. Pamphlets on crime prevention were also distributed to the residents.

Many residents took the opportunity to register as Rakan Cop volunteers at the booth. The Rakan Cop program allows members of the public to act as the police’s ‘eyes and ears’ by reporting crimes and alerting the police of suspicious individuals through SMS.

Representatives of residents associations and Rukun Tetangga from SS2, SS3, Section 22 and Section 14 were also present at the session.

The “Face-to-Face” programme was organised by the Petaling Jaya district police station and the Rukun Tetangga of Section 21 SEA Park and Section 20A Taman Paramount.
