Pet Lovers Centre Malaysia has launched its 6th annual Pet Food Drive 2024 initiative to collect pet food items for feeding strayed and rehomed animals at four animal shelters.
Running from Nov 15 to Dec 1, this year’s campaign, “Pets Payung Pets”, aims to bring communities together for a united cause, contributing pet food to keep the furry friends’ bowls full across Malaysia.
The food donations collected will be distributed to four organisations: Paws Animal Welfare Shelter, Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (HOPE), Cat Beach Sanctuary and Second Chance Animal Society.
These charities have championed care for stray animals, providing not only food but also shelter for strays throughout the year.
“Much like an umbrella that protects us, the initiative’s goal is to shield our beloved furry friends from hunger and neglect, one bowl at a time,” said Pet Lovers Centre Malaysia marketing manager Cody Ong.
This year’s campaign assembles the Manja Gang – a special force of rescue pets acting as the faces of the Pet Food Drive.
“The Manja Gang is the ‘Payung’ (umbrella) of hope and protection, symbolising our united commitment to ensure no animal goes unfed.
“These furry friends, real residents of our beneficiary shelters, have come together to rally support and speak up for their fellow shelter mates.
“Each of their unique personalities bring warmth and charm to the cause, reminding us of the importance of giving back to the animals who need us the most,” said Ong.
Ong advised pet lovers to adopt pets instead of buying them from pet shops to give homeless animals a chance at a better life while supporting shelters that care for them.
Introducing Manja Gang, the fluffy adorable heroes leading the “Pets Payung Pets” campaign:
• Rambo is an innocent, baby male puppy with a little kid’s voice and childlike wonder. He’s new to the world and relies on others to learn. His heartwarming personality will steal your heart.
• Oyen Angels is a typical Malaysian Oyen triplet, Som, Komla and Cheng Zir. Together, they embody the universal love of cats, they love a good adventure and are always ready to create mischief.
• Elvin is an older, paralysed and introspective male dog. Despite his challenges, Elvin remains a gentle giant who finds comfort in his golden years at the shelter.
• Cookie is a sophisticated, urban cat with fancy tastes. A former heiress, she can be a bit high maintenance and ‘gedik’, but she dreams of becoming an influencer.
Food donations to Pets Payung Pets can be made at any of the 60 Pet Lovers Centre outlets nationwide.
Every contribution counts, whether it’s a small packet or a bulk donation. Pet Lovers Centre have a range of pet food products with subsidized pricing for the Pet Food Drive 2024.
The collected food will be equally distributed among the four beneficiary organisations to cover feeding costs for the first half of 2025.
