ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC) is raising awareness on the importance of heart health among Malaysians in conjunction with World Heart Day.

World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th September of every year with the aim of increasing awareness of cardiovascular diseases and to promote preventive measures to control them.

The private hospital has on display a massive 26-foot replica of the human heart located at the lobby which allow the public to take a guided interactive walk-through inside the vital organ to comprehend how the human heart keeps ticking.

“The mega heart allows for a tactile experience to help people better understand how the organ works and to strive to stay healthy, especially during these challenging times,” said PMC chief executive officer Ch’ng Lin Ling.

The mega heart will be on exhibit until 11 September 2021.

Ch’ng said cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the country.

“Cardiovascular diseases do not discriminate against age or gender as many were diagnosed with the condition at a young age.

“We encourage the public to keep an eye on their heart health and be aware of the behavioural, social, environmental and biological risk factors which can contribute to the development of heart diseases,” she said.

The mega heart is part of PMC’s ongoing healthy heart campaign this year which was rolled out in partnership with healthcare company Viatris.

The Heart Deal package, which ends on September 30, 2021, encourages regular heart health screenings for early detection and treatment to prevent complications. The first 15 patients to register for this special heart healthcare package will receive a free stress test.

With a team of doctors and staff who were fully vaccinated, PMC said it continues to adhere to strict compliance with the Ministry of Health’s standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure the health and safety of patients, public, doctors and staff at its premises.
