OrphanCare, a non-profit organisation dedicated to giving children in institutions and unplanned newborn babies the chance to grow up in the care of a family, has relocated its Johor Bahru operations to new premises in Taman Pelangi with the support of the Budimas Charitable Foundation.
The move strengthens the accessibility and safety of its Baby Hatch services while ensuring continued support for vulnerable newborns and families in crisis.
Alongside the relocation, the Budimas Charitable Foundation has been providing ongoing monthly support since 2024, reinforcing OrphanCare’s long-term child protection efforts and commitment to family-based care.

“This relocation allows us to continue our work in a more suitable environment while ensuring that our Baby Hatch remains accessible to those who need it most.
”The Baby Hatch is often a last resort for women facing crisis pregnancies and maintaining its operation is critical in preventing unsafe abandonment.
“We are grateful for the support from the Budimas Foundation which helped us strengthen our services in Johor Bahru,” said OrphanCare general manager Zakiah A Rahman.
The relocation and refurbishment of the new premises included renovation works and the transfer of the Baby Hatch to a purpose-built space designed to better support OrphanCare’s operational needs while providing a safer and more conducive environment for services, particularly the baby hatch, which offers a safe and anonymous alternative for women facing crisis pregnancies.
Beyond the baby hatch, OrphanCare Johor Bahru will continue to support adoption facilitation, family reintegration programmes and public advocacy initiatives that promote family-based care as an alternative to institutionalisation.
The Budimas Foundation and OrphanCare reaffirm their shared commitment to protecting vulnerable children and supporting long-term, compassionate solutions that prioritise the safety, dignity and well-being of every child.
