Niro Ceramic Group has announced the appointment of David Tan as the new chief operating officer (COO), effective immediately, the company said.
The tile maker and distributor said the appointment is aligned with the company’s strategic preparation for its anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO) listing in 2024.
David’s leadership will be instrumental in supporting Niro Ceramic Group’s growth objectives in the evolving business landscape, the company said in a statement dated August 28, 2023.
Tan brings with him an exceptional track record in operational leadership innovation, spanning over twenty years in various industries. Throughout his career, he has held significant roles in prominent companies such as Carlsberg, Ford and Johnson Control, the statement added.
Tan previously served as the COO at PT Niro Ceramic Nasional Indonesia in 2017, and subsequently took on the role of chief executive officer at the same company in March 2019.

In his new role as the COO of Niro Ceramic Group, David will report to Ian Kok, and will oversee operations in Malaysia and Vietnam, encompassing divisions such as supply chain, domestic sales and technical sales, as well as the group’s retail division, Creative Lab.
He will also spearhead the group supply chain function, fostering close coordination across all subsidiaries.
Tan holds a Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, and an MBA (Finance) from Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. In addition to being a Certified Lean Manufacturing Implementer, David also has earned both a Master Belt and Black Belt for Six Sigma certification.
