Nestle Malaysia has successfully distributed nutrition packs to more than 10,000 families living at PPR flats in West Malaysia to encourage good nutrition amongst the urban poor and vulnerable communities.
The community initiative was part of a two-month #HariHariEveryday campaign (June-July 2022) by Nestle Everyday which went on-the-ground to educate PPR communities on micronutrient deficiencies and share opportunities for families to sample the Nestle Everyday products.
“We are pleased to share that the response from the families was positive, and we hope that this effort contributes to help nourish healthier communities,” said Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd business executive officer, milks business unit, Lam Pui Yuee.
She said micronutrient deficiencies, also known as ‘hidden hunger’, affect one in three families in Malaysia who do not get sufficient micronutrients in their daily meals such as calcium, iron and vitamin C.
“A key problem for those suffering from ‘hidden hunger’ is that they are not aware of their condition and this could post long-term risks to their health.
“Bearing that in mind, educating the community about this issue plays a crucial role in helping Malaysians lead healthier lives alongside providing them with good nourishment through the ‘Bekalan Nutrisi’ packs,” added Lam.
Lam said the Nestle Everyday milk powder is specially formulated with key essential nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals to help close the micronutrient gap.
Each pack of ‘Bekalan Nutrisi’ contains Nestle Everyday milk powder, along with other products such as Nestum All Family Cereal 250g, Koko Krunch cereal 80g, Koko Krunch DHA 60g and Maggi 2-minute kari noodles which helped support PPR communities in meeting their daily nutritional needs.
During the campaign period, Nestle Everyday also organized a nationwide contest with over RM100,000 worth of prizes rewarded to 95 lucky Malaysians, including the grand prize of a Perodua Ativa, as well as four Yamaha Eco Gear 125l motorcycles and weekly Touch ‘n Go reload pins.
