“It was a wonderful surprise because I never imagined I could win it. I’m truthfully honoured and blessed to have this crown. This will push me further to better myself to carry the crown with utmost dignity,” said Valarie Wong, who also bagged the Best Talent subsidiary title.

The real estate negotiator and financial planner said she joined the pageant for the first time after learning about it from her tenant.

“It was fate I participated in my first pageant. I found out about the Mrs Malaysia Planet pageant through a tenant. While screening her profile I noticed her picture wearing a crown. I check further on that and only then I knew there is beauty pageant for married women.

“I decided to take part since it is happening this year and also because joining beauty pageants or runway shows is what I wanted to do a long time ago but the timing wasn’t right then.”

Wong said there were so many things she learned and experienced with pageant competition.

“Taking part in this pageant has allowed me to know more about the industry and how to organize a successful event. Of course, I wish to achieve my own breakthrough and widen my social circle.

“I also learned that we can choose to grab the chance to shine ourself if we decide to.

“I love the unity of all my fellow sisters and we all get along supporting and helping one another and creating great memories along the journey.”

Wong said the hardest part in the competition was the self-introduction and opening routine performance which were a whole new experience for her.

“I don’t have public speaking and dance experience. I was nervous what if I completely forget what to say or can’t remember some dance routines? I took some deep breathing before going onstage and that helped me feel relaxed and ready.”

When asked what she can do to help save planet Earth, the pageant queen said: “Perform the three “R’s”, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and most important is to educate the people understands the importance and value of our natural resources.

“It’s important to influence people surrounding us to care about the environment, and that’s what I want to be a green role model to encourage people to take care of and protect the environment.

For 52-year-old Chris Koh, a single mother with a son, this was her first beauty pageant and she did her best and ended up winning her first title Mrs Elite Malaysia Planet 2022.

“I am so honoured to win this pageant, but it isn’t about winning as a zero-sum equation. I feel that everyone I met in the pageant was a winner and the competition ensured that we were all at our personal best.

“This pageant isn’t about a single winner, it is about showing many winners,” said the businesswoman and real estate negotiator who also bagged the Most Photogenic, Most Congeniality and Best Catwalk subsidiary titles.

One of the many challenges Koh faced during the competition was delivering her presentation in front of a large audience during the introduction round.

“I managed to beat the stage fright and present confidently.

“I hope to continue learning to improve my personal best, and to raise awareness of not taking our good fortune for granted.”

“The past few years have been challenging for all of us, but there are more challenges coming soon. So, it’s always important to plan ahead to overcome challenges and obstacles in life that will make us stronger and wiser.”

Koh said treating the environment well is one way to make the planet a better place to live for everyone.

“One way is to really consider reducing the number of cars on the road. Fewer cars mean less air pollution entering the environment.”

Koh loves going to the gym for weight-lifting and her interests include singing and travelling

For wellness coach Emily Shi Thu, 38, winning the Mrs Malaysia Petite 2022 title proved that being petite isn’t short on poise and appeal.

Standing 158 cm tall (5’ 2”), the petite lady who is from Miri, Sarawak but has been staying in Kuala Lumpur for 16 years, entered her first pageant and didn’t expect to win.

“This win was unexpected and I feel so blessed and very honoured to win the title. Now I’m really excited to take on my responsibilities as the title holder.”

Emily also bagged three subsidiary titles – Best Fitness, Most Congeniality and Best Talent.

She said the pageant gave her a way to challenge herself through the competition and become a better person.

“As I am at my late 30s, I wanted a platform that takes on a bigger life than before. I was born into a traditional family where I can only live as planned. However, I am the kind that loves to challenge, especially to things that others think I can’t achieve.

“Pageant is a thing one needs to have great confidence and courage to join. Therefore, apart from working extremely hard with my online business after the Movement Control Order (MCO), I think it’s time to prove myself to my family and all women that I am something and I am qualified to be a beauty queen.”

Organized by Yinzi Event & Marketing, the grand finale saw 18 married women and mothers competed for three pageant titles: Mrs Malaysia Planet 2022, Mrs Elite Malaysia Planet 2022 and Mrs Malaysia Petite 2022

My congratulations on your achievement. You are all amazing!” said Yinzi Event & Marketing director and organizer Madam Lim Siew Cheng in congratulating all the finalists and their accomplishments.
