Home improvement retailer MR DIY has rolled out the sale of nasal self-test kits at its 900+ stores nationwide.
This follows the retailer’s introduction of saliva self-test kits in November last year.
MR D.I.Y. Group marketing head Alex Goh said with the Omicron variant spreading rapidly, it is crucial to step up testing efforts especially in schools, offices, factories and homes.
“MR DIY worked closely with our vendors to bring in saliva test kits last year. By buying in bulk, we were able to make these test kits accessible to everyone who needed them at very affordable prices.
“But we realise that saliva self-test kits aren’t for everyone. Children and the elderly in particular sometimes find them challenging to use. So we reached out to our vendors to source nasal self-test kits that are easier to use and more accessible for the masses as the numbers are rapidly rising,” he said.
In an effort to help stem the spread of the infection amongst some of the country’s most vulnerable communities, MR DIY is distributing more than 1,000 nasal self-test kits and face masks to 23 charity homes nationwide.
“This effort to distribute these kits to vulnerable communities is yet another way we can help minimise the risk for these communities,” said Goh.
Nasal, saliva and whistle self-test kits as well as other protective essentials such as face masks, hand sanitisers and face shields are available at MR DIY Group stores nationwide.
