MR D.I.Y Group Bhd, in collaboration with Medical Awareness Camp Outreach (MACO), has donated 110 refurbished desktop computers to schools across Peninsular Malaysia for use in their computer labs.
The home improvement retailer provided the computers under MACO’s computer empowerment programme for underprivileged schoolchildren, and to equip deserving schools with computer labs.
The refurbished computer sets comprised of Central Processing Units (CPUs), monitors, keyboards and accessories.
MR DIY IT team volunteered to support the programme by refurbishing the computers which were collected from MR DIY’s headquarters in Seri Kembangan and its stores around the country.
“We realized, as students started to return to school post-pandemic, that many schools needed help to ensure they are properly-equipped facilities to accommodate online teaching and learning needs.
“With over 900 stores nationwide, our IT team is well-versed with the workings of computers and volunteered to help source and refurbish these computers to support the cause. We hope this contribution will help students continue learning without any hindrance,” said MR D.I.Y. group chairman Dato’ Azlam Shah Alias.
Medical Awareness Camp Outreach is an NGO formed by a group of specialist doctors and non-medical volunteers who provide free medical services, meals, food aid and refurbished computers to the underprivileged. Since the programme started in 2020, it has donated over 2,000 refurbished computer sets to deserving individuals and schools.
