MR DIY brings Chinese New Year cheer to the underprivileged

MR DIY spreads Chinese New Year cheer nationwide. Seen here are MR DIY employees bringing festive cheer to the children at Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Angels, Kuala Lumpur.

MR DIY ushered in Year of the Tiger with a roar with contribution of care packages to more than 400 residents from 15 care homes nationwide.

The home-grown retailer mobilized its resources across the country to bring joy to the residents, who included underprivileged children, the physically challenged and the elderly, with care packages containing everyday essentials and household items needed for the Chinese New Year celebrations.

In addition, each home also received household appliances like rice cookers and electric kettles, as well as personal hygiene items such as face masks and hand sanitizers.

MR D.I.Y. Group marketing head Alex Goh said that celebrations and festivities could be meaningful all the more when shared.

“We hope that this contribution helped make the festivities more memorable for some of our less fortunate members of the public.  Thank you to the fifteen homes for supporting our team in this endeavour.  We wish all Malaysians a prosperous, safe, and a very happy Year of the Water Tiger,” he said.

Employees of MR DIY also brought extra festive cheer to 14 children residing in Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Angels, Kuala Lumpur, a home for orphans, abused, abandoned and underprivileged children, during their visit to the home in January.

The visit by MR DIY CSR team involved full-day activities which included games, tree-planting, mural painting, Chinese New Year decoration and festive celebrations with the children.

Embodied with the ‘DIY spirit’, the employees of MR DIY also cleaned up the home and painted it, all part of an extensive makeover of the home in time for the Chinese New Year.
