Malaysia is gearing up for the Miss Cosmopolitan World 2023 pageant, after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
The last Miss Cosmopolitan World pageant was held in Oct 2019 in Putrajaya, won by 28-year-old Miss Nepal Priya Rani Lama.
The international delegates competing in the Miss Cosmopolitan World 2023 have arrived in the country.
They were revealed in a press conference held at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Oct 25.
This year’s competition, now in its sixth edition, will feature beauties from 15 countries and territories, including Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan, Russia, Cambodia, Nepal and host Malaysia.
“Today we are showcasing the 15 international finalists who will be competing for the crown and the title of Miss Cosmopolitan World 2023 before the judges at the finals on Nov 9.
“Throughout these three weeks we are going to have many fun and exciting activities for all the ladies.” said Amelia Liew, the founder of Malaysia home-grown Miss Cosmopolitan World pageant.
The delegates will be engaging in tourism activities for the promotion of Malaysia tourism.
Some of the highlights of the delegates programmes include visits to tourist attractions and famous landmarks in Cameron Highlands and Penang, a day at SplashMania Waterpark at Gamuda Cove in Selangor, and charity event.
“Beauty is just one of several criteria. Our contestants are judged on a combination of inner and outer beauty,” Liew said in answered to a question from the media on the criteria used for the competition.
The press conference included a MoU signing ceremony between the key pageant sponsors and organiser Amelia Productions.
Malaysia’s delegate Rindsay Rachelle Laige, 25, a Kadazan from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah said she is excited to be competing in Miss Cosmopolitan World.
“This is my first international pageant experience and I am really honoured to represent Malaysia. Now, I’m really excited because I get to meet, make friends and have fun with all the wonderful delegates from different countries, but I am prepared mentally and physically for this pageant.
“I want to both enjoy and win,” said Rindsay who shares a room with delegates from Czech Republic and Myanmar.
Rindsay, who joined Miss Universe Malaysia in 2020 and Miss International Malaysia recently, is a law graduate, currently pursuing her MBA and hopes to create her own brand of beauty products someday.
Wu Yu Hsuan, 29, from Taiwan, who is regarded as a KOL, said she is excited to be back in Malaysia and gearing up for the big day.
“I look forward to have a great time and becoming friends with the other girls. Everyone is going to be really competitive and I will do my best to bring the crown home.”
Wu joined the Miss Tourism International in 2018 where she won the Miss Congeniality subsidiary title.
