Midea Malaysia unveils new smart home appliance range, sets RM1bil sales target for 2025

Midea, a global leader in smart home appliances, has unveiled a preview of its 2025/2026 product line-up at the Genting International Convention Centre, Genting Highlands on Feb 3, 2025.

The product preview reinforces the company’s commitment to making smart, energy-efficient and user-friendly home appliances.

The new product line-up features advanced IoT integration, energy efficiency and user-centric designs to ensure sustainable Growth in 2025/2026, and will be officially introduced in the coming months.

Mark Tam, the managing director of Midea Malaysia stated during the launch event: “Today is not just about launching new products – it’s about embracing the future of home living. Consumer lifestyles are evolving, people are busier than ever and they seek smarter, more efficient solutions.”

Tam added: “Midea is here to lead the next wave of change, combining affordable innovation, high-quality manufacturing and great customer service to bring seamless smart living into every home.”

Midea’s latest range of smart home appliances aligns with emerging trends by incorporating AI-powered capabilities and sophisticated modern designs.

The latest product range is equipped with RFID and Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing users to control their appliances remotely via the SmartHome App, ensuring a more intuitive and connected home experience.

Tam went on to say: “Many of Midea’s latest air-conditioners and refrigerators are certified by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia, with 34 air-conditioner and 13 refrigerator models achieving a 4-star energy efficiency rating or higher.

“The company has also seen a significant increase in the adoption of inverter air-conditioners, with energy-saving models now exceeding 40% of total sales.”

The company’s air-conditioner segment in Malaysia recorded year-on-year (YoY) growth exceeding 30%, and continues to flourish, driven by rising demand for energy-efficient solutions.

Tam said Midea Malaysia has set a sales target of RM1 billion this year, projecting double-digit growth by banking on its more than 1,000 strong dealer network nationwide.

The company is actively expanding its network of Midea Brand Stores outlets and plans to upgrade over 50 Midea brand stores nationwide over the next two years, reflecting its commitment to innovation and smart home appliances.

In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, Midea will be rewarding customers with Touch ‘n Go rebates worth up to RM500 beginning March 16, 2025.
