Tiara Tai Tong Yan from Malaysia was named the first winner female of Face of Asia 2022 modelling competition at the Asia Model Festival 2022 held at Uijeongbu in South Korea on October 14-16.
During the finals, Tai’s name was called for Top 10 of the 2022 Face of Asia. When the final results were out, she won the Face of Asia 2022 Female title, beating contestants from 27 Asian countries.
When asked to describe how she felt, the fashion model said, “I’m really happy and honoured to be the female winner of Face of Asia 2022. The first step of my goal has come true and I’m one step closer to my dream. This proved to my family and friends that the path that I’m choosing really works.”
Tai said she felt homesick while in Korea since October 2 for the two-week-long boot camp before the final on Oct 16.
“Being away from family members and home for so long has been extremely hard for me. However, I learned a very useful experience that I believe will come in handy later.”
Tai shared her strength and inspiration that assisted her to succeed in the competition.
“My greatest strength to win this competition is having a peaceful state of mind and having my own beliefs. I believe that as long as I work hard enough my efforts will be seen by others one day.
“My biggest inspiration is my mom. She’s everything to me, without her I wouldn’t achieve anything I had right now. She’s my no.1 supporter no matter what I’m going through and I’m super grateful to have her in my life.”
International Celebrity Pageant Group president and founder Lennard Tan who organized the Face of Malaysia 2022 competition said he was proud of Tiara Tai as her achievement has brought pride to Malaysia.
“I’m really proud of her efforts for bringing home the Asia’s top model title for us. Malaysia Boleh!”
While Tai became the first female winner, Kim Jung Wook from South Korea was named the first male winner of Face of Asia 2022.
The grand prize winner of Face of Asia 2022 went to Vanessa Tolkunbek Kyzy from Kyrgyzstan.
Tai and two other models represented Malaysia in competing for the Face of Asia 2022.
This year, 11 children aged 6 to 16 from Little Celebrity International and winners of Face of Malaysia 2022 Junior represented Malaysia as runway models at the Asia Open Collection fashion show held at Asia Model Festival on Oct 15.
The kid models walked the catwalk dressed in the clothing created by Malaysia’s renowned fashion designer Dennis Lee – the designer label can be found in House Of Fashion which opened its door recently at Quill City Mall Kuala Lumpur.
