New York Couture Fashion Week Gala is scheduled to be held in Malaysia at Wyndham Acmar Klang Hotel in Klang, Selangor on February 25, 2023 in conjunction with Miss Plus World Malaysia Grand Finale Gala.
Themed “Uniting Cultures, Promoting Tourism Through Fashion”, the event will feature New York-based award-winning fashion designer Andres Aquino’s new collection “New York Fashion Symphony”, celebrity models Layla Murugova and Daiana Canalas, as well as other international and Malaysian designers and models.
The grand gala is organized by Malaysia World News in partnership with Couture Fashion Week (CFW) and Taylor’s University.
Couture Fashion Week is one of New York Fashion Week’s most prestigious events.
Founded in 2005 by producer and entrepreneur Andres Aquino, Couture Fashion Week presents a series of couture and luxury fashion shows in New York City, Cannes, France and other selected cities.
The shows include exceptional designers from around the globe, performances by world-class entertainers, luxury exhibits of art, accessories and other products, VIP dinners, and related events.
In a statement, Andres Aquino said his new collection “New York Fashion Symphony,” which he will present in Malaysia, is a couture collection inspired by the sounds of New York City.
“Bringing together fashion and art marks a new direction in my creative journey,” he said.
Among the highlights of the New York Couture Fashion Week Grand Gala are: Red Carpet, National Costume, Exclusive Fashion Shows, Music Performances, Short Film Screening, Coronation and Awards.
The objectives of this event are to unite cultures and promote textile arts and local tourism through fashion, as well as giving Malaysian and Southeast Asia fashion designers and models, and filmmakers a chance to showcase their collections on a prestigious runway to a global audience.
On Nov 7, 2022, Couture Fashion Week founder Andres Aquino, through its representative in Malaysia Andrew Jackson, signed a MoU with Media Path Ent (with Malaysia World News) to organize New York Couture Fashion Week Grand Gala in Malaysia every year, where the best model, fashion designer and short film will be selected and given the opportunity to participate in New York Fashion Week, USA and Cannes, France.
The event organizer and director in Malaysia Ziinine A. Britshi said the New York Couture Fashion Week Grand Gala will be hosted in Malaysia for the first time, in conjunction with the Miss Plus World Malaysia Finale Gala.
“This is a great milestone and benchmark for us to bring this world class iconic fashion show to Malaysia and give great opportunities to local models and fashion designers to showcase their creative collections.
“They will also stand a chance to win prestigious awards and get an opportunity to be chosen as Best Designer or Best Model to participate in fashion shows during Couture Fashion Week in New York or Cannes, France.
“Malaysia will definitely become a hub for top fashion show in Southeast Asia by hosting this iconic NYCFW in the country,” he said.
