A recent survey by Herbalife Asia Pacific Responsible Supplementation Survey 2025 found that Malaysians are embracing preventive healthcare with 95% agreeing it is important to their personal wellbeing.

The survey was conducted in May 2025 across 11 Asia Pacific markets including Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In Malaysia, 1,000 respondents participated in the survey which examined consumer habits and attitudes toward health supplements, revealing strong commitment as well as clear opportunities to strengthen knowledge and support.

The survey found that 43% of Malaysians take supplements daily, with 64% of them taking more than one type of health supplement. General health and immunity remain the top reasons for supplementation (59%), followed by energy and focus (39%) and skin, hair and beauty (38%).

Encouragingly, 65% of Malaysians said they feel confident in their ability to make responsible supplement decisions, placing the country among the highest in the region alongside Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

At the same time, 82% of Malaysians recognise the importance of making informed decisions about supplementation, with doctors and nutritionists being the most trusted sources of information (58%). When purchasing supplements, healthcare professional recommendations (50%), product safety and efficacy (49%), and product quality certifications (45%) are the top three considerations.

Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore senior director and manager Steven Chin said, “Malaysians are showing great commitment to their health, and our goal is to give them the right tools, knowledge and support to continue their journey towards better well-being.

“The survey results are encouraging, as Malaysians are becoming more confident about the supplements they take and are seeking guidance from trusted sources such as healthcare professionals.

‘We want to build on this by continuing to work with reputable organizations, universities and wellness experts to strengthen public nutrition education.”

Herbalife launched the 2025 National Wellness “Check In” Campaign from May to July this year. The initiative travelled to 33 cities and towns nationwide, reaching out to over 8,000 Malaysians, offering free body analyses, balanced nutrition guidance and personalised supplement advice.

China said the campaign mobilised Herbalife’s network of distributors to reach out to the communities across the country to ensure no one was left behind in their wellness journey.

“The National Wellness “Check In” Campaign was about meeting people where they are and providing practical, science-backed guidance they can use in their daily lives.”

“While more Malaysians are embracing preventive healthcare, our country continues to face the burden of both communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as the double burden of malnutrition. That’s why it was important for us to reach every corner of the nation, from small towns to major cities, giving people the chance to learn, ask questions, and leave with simple, actionable steps to improve their health and well-being,” Chin added.

The campaign concluded with wellness expos held in cities and towns across the country, including Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Melaka, Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Sarikei, Kota Kinabalu, Ipoh, Penang, Kota Bahru, Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan.
