In embracing the spirit of Ramadan this year, Maggi distributed 130,000 bowls of Maggi bubur lambuk (rice porridge), cooked by Maggi chefs, to frontliners and needy communities at 135 locations nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak.
Nestle Malaysia Berhad business executive officer of Maggi, Geetha Balakrishna said the company appreciated the invaluable dedication and sacrifices by Malaysian frontliners who had immensely contributed to the needs of the community throughout this pandemic.
“This is our way in thanking all our frontline heroes while we extend our Raya cheers to them as they continue to serve the nation during these challenging times,” she said.
The main frontline beneficiary groups were Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Fire & Rescue Department (Bomba), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), government offices and healthcare workers.
The bubur lambuk were also distributed to needy communities, such as B40 families and residents in 52 Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) low cost flats, as well as orphanage and welfare homes.
Geetha said this year’s initiative was significant as they had teamed up with Jasmine Food Corporation, Alif, BHPetrogas and Kara Malaysia in preparing the meal with a mix of chicken, spices and other fresh ingredients.
She said the company in working together with its valued partners were able to reach out to more deserving individuals while keeping its special bubur lambuk tradition alive.
Jasmine Food Corporation contributed 2,500kg of Jasmine fragrant rice while Alif sponsored 1,250 litres of cooking oil.
“Maggi also received 140 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders from BHPetrogas and 1,250 litres of coconut milk from Kara Malaysia,” added Geetha.
The residents of Pangsapuri Taman Sri Rasau in Shah Alam were among the 130,000 recipients of Maggi bubur lambukthis year.
“We welcome this heartfelt gesture from Maggi, especially for the poor and those who are facing hardships due to the pandemic,” said Taman Sri Rasau Rukun Tetangga president Hamdan Harun.
He added that the meal would definitely put a smile on the residents while fostering closer community ties in breaking fast together.
Nurul Shawalina from KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital said the kind gesture from Maggi cheered up the staffs who have been working round the clock in their fight against Covid-19.
“A warm bowl of Maggi bubur lambuk will definitely bring contentment when breaking fast, providing us with the much needed energy and motivation to perform our duties at our very best,” she said.
