Lotus’s Malaysia spreads CNY cheer to the elderly

Lotus’s Malaysia goes “Ekstra” to keep traditions alive with seniors.

Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) is bringing the festive spirit to the community through its #KitakanJiran initiative by spreading cheer and joy to seniors in care homes during its ongoing Semuanya Ekstra Ongsem Chinese New Year (CNY) campaign.

Through the initiative, over 400 volunteers and brand partners are visiting 21 senior retirement homes nationwide to share traditions like dumpling-making and yee sang tossing with nearly 1,000 elderly individuals, turning festive customs into moments of connection and warmth.

Rooted in the belief that CNY is about togetherness, the initiative focuses on spending time, sharing traditions and creating moments of joy with elderly communities.

So far, seven outreach sessions have been completed at senior homes across Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan, with the eighth session held on Jan 23, 2026 at Pusat Jagaan Little Sisters of The Poor, Cheras, together with brand partners and media representatives.

In total, the programme will reach 21 senior retirement homes nationwide, bringing CNY cheer to close to 1,000 elderly individuals throughout the festive period.

The community visits are further strengthened by the support of brand partners including Maggi, Milo, Omega Milk, Chips More and official beverage partner Coca-Cola. Together, they contributed more than RM46,000 worth of products, ranging from daily essentials to festive treats, helping to meet practical needs while adding joy to the celebrations.

“Chinese New Year is not just about shopping, it’s about being together and making sure no one is left out,” said Lotus’s Malaysia communications and sustainability head Hanim Hamdan.

“Through #KitakanJiran, our teams and partners come together to spend time with seniors, share traditions and bring festive warmth directly to them. It’s a simple gesture, but one that reminds our elderly community that they are remembered, valued and very much part of the celebration,” she said.

The Semuanya Ekstra Ongsem CNY campaign runs until Feb 25, 2026, offering customers discounts of up to 50% on more than 1,500 festive essentials and household items.

Shoppers can also take part in activities at 31 selected Lotus’s CNY World outlets and stand a chance to win prizes worth up to RM1.5 million through My Lotus’s member promotions and in-store events.
