Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) was awarded The BrandLaureate Nation’s Pride BestBrands Awards 2022 in the Tourism and Destination Branding category at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on August 25, 2022.
This award recognises LADA’s excellent performance in helping the government to improve the economy for the tourism sector and for being the main agency to put Langkawi’s name in the field of Tourism and Destination Branding.
LADA chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib said the award is a testament to Lada’s continuous commitment and dedication in uplifting and positioning Langkawi as one of the top tourist destinations among both local and international travellers.
“We are truly humbled to receive this award and to be recognized for our efforts. As we continue to progress, we are motivated to double our efforts and challenge ourselves to achieve greater heights,” he said.
Winning this award by The BrandLaureate has been a proud moment for LADA, as Langkawi is the first-ever destination to win the Nation’s Pride Tourism and Destination Branding Award.
“Recognition is one of the most important aspects for an organization to boost and elevate their brand on an international stage. It is one of the most effective marketing strategies to market the island to locals and the international market. With this award recognition, we would be able to increase awareness and exposure of Langkawi around the world,” added Nasaruddin.
Organised by TBL Brand Awards Sdn Bhd this year, The BrandLaureate is the only branding award that has worldwide recognition. The award was conceptualised to encourage brands to achieve greater brand excellence and leadership.
LADA is the body tasked to grow and develop Langkawi into a world-renowned tourism destination. Over the years, LADA has implemented various activities and initiatives to position Langkawi as a famous eco-geo tourism destination and to have been awarded the first UNESCO Global Geopark in Southeast Asia.
LADA was also the main agency in implementing Langkawi as an International Travel Bubble Pilot Destination. The success of this International Travel Bubble can be seen with the coordination and preparation of LADA and the cooperation of other agencies in receiving foreign tourists to Langkawi.
Most recently, Langkawi also emerged fifth in Asia’s Best Awards 2022 for the Top 10 Islands in Southeast Asia.
This prestigious award by The BrandLaureate further emphasizes that Langkawi is on the right track to achieve its target of having 2.5 million inbound travellers by year end.
