The stage has been set for the Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival 2025 and its component event, the Malika Music Festival 2025 at The Landing @ KL Base in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur from April 12 to 13, 2025.
The Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival 2025 breaks way from the norm to offer a unique experience that stands out from other events.
It integrates a movie launch and trailer premiere, a 3km celebrity fun run, a vibrant cultural festival and the Malika Music Festival (which will be held on April 12, 2025), as part of a unique promotional campaign for the upcoming Malaysian horror film “Kulit Wayang”.
The Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival and Malka Music Festival will happen inside The Hangar Stage, that will feature a stage with a 40ft LED screen.
“We know that a movie launch shouldn’t just be for the press and have transformed the event into a large-scale public celebration.
“This two-day event gives us a unique opportunity for brand synergy and cultural engagement,” said EMT Ventures director Penny Chan in her welcome address to the media at a press conference held at Grotto Hall @ Confetti KL in Mines 2, Seri Kembangan, Selangor on March 26, 2025.
“Our extensive experience in large-scale event management and proven track record of successful campaigns allows us to deliver a high impact and memorable event. We’ve partnered with leading event professionals to ensure flawless execution. ‘Kulit Wayang’ is also supported by Finas and Motac, ” she added.
EMT Ventures Sdn Bhd is the co-producer of “Kulit Wayang” and organiser of the Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival 2025 and Malika Music Festival 2025.
“Promoting “Kulit Wayang” as a public launch instead of a private press event, gets the movie seen by many more people, creating more excitement and buzz,” Chan concluded.
The Kulit Wayang Cutural Festival will celebrate Malaysian culture through community engagement and will showcase Malaysian heritage through traditional performances, cultural displays and local food, bringing people together for a fun and shared experience at the event.
The Malika Music Festival 2025 will feature well-known local and Indonesian artistes, including actor and singer Fattah Amin, Indonesian pop icon Nidji, pop punk favourite Bunkface, indie pioneer OAG and rock bands Krusty, Steeltoe Solutions and Conflict Crisis.
Both the Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival and Malka Music Festival will happen inside The Hangar Stage, that will feature a stage with a 40-foot LED screen.
The fun run with the cast of “Kulit Wayang” including Fattah Amin himself, is expected to see about 13,000 runners taking part, including 5,000 fun runners of various age groups from KL and Selangor. It’s a chance to have fun, get fit, and meet the artistes.
Other activities throughout the two days will include traditional music performances such as gamelan and dikir barat, and traditional dance performances such as inang and zapin.
There will also be family friendly interactive workshops including batik painting and wau making, allowing attendees to participate in traditional crafts while learning about their cultural significance. Families can also enjoy traditional games such as congkak, batu seremban and gasing.
There will also be wayang kulit performance (shadow play) featuring actors Fattah Amin and Pekin Ibrahim.
More than 100 vendors are expected to showcase their wares during the festival. There will also be food stalls featuring popular Malay dishes such as nasi lemak, satay and rendang.
The festival will also include drawing and art contests for primary and secondary school students.
Entry for the 3km fun run is at RM41.00 while the 10km run is at RM49.00, inclusive of access to Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival.
