Japan’s teamLab to exhibit unique light artworks at LaLaport BBCC, Aug 4 – Nov 30

teamLab: Resonating Microcosms” will reveal at LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre.

The famed art collective teamLab from Japan will hold a unique light artworks exhibition titled “teamLab: Resonating Microcosms” at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kuala Lumpur’s rooftop garden, Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) from August 4 to November 30, 2022.

Admission to the exhibit is free.

With the theme of “Resonating Microcosms – Liquified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset”, the exhibition will feature countless ovoids to make it an art space that transforms through the presence of people and changes constantly in the natural environment.

Under the sun, the ovoids reflect the world around them. As the sun sets, the ovoids begin to shine by themselves and then the lights slowly fade away.

When an ovoid is pushed over by a person, blown by the wind, or hit by rain, it shines brightly and emits a sound tone as it stands back up on its own. The ovoids around it also respond one after another, resonating out the same sound tone and light color.

The ovoids can change into a total of 57 newly-defined liquified light colours.

The surrounding Resonating Trees also respond and change continuously. The trees’ lights change color and a tone specific to that color resonates out.

TeamLab is an international art collective formed in 2001 in Tokyo, Japan and features an interdisciplinary group consisting of artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians and architects who seek to navigate the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world.

It has held numerous exhibitions worldwide, including New York, London, Paris, Silicon Valley, Beijing and Melbourne among others, as well as large-scale permanent exhibitions in Shanghai, Macao, Tokyo and Singapore.
