International Celebrity Pageant Group, the organizer of this year’s Face of Malaysia modelling contest, launched the 2022 competition at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur on May 13, inviting aspiring models to enter the competition to become the New Face of Malaysia this year.
The winners of Face of Malaysia 2022 will be sent to compete in the 2022 Asia Model Festival Face of Asia finals in Seoul, South Korea in November this year.
International Celebrity Pageant Group president and founder Lennard Tan is the new license holder taking over the responsibility of organizing Face of Malaysia from former franchise holder Amber Chia who conceptualized and started the Face of Malaysia in 2011.
“The reason we decided to acquire the license to stage Face of Malaysia this year, is because we believe that there are a lot of multi-talented individuals in our country that can make us proud globally,” said Tan at a press conference and launch of Face of Malaysia 2022.
Also present at the launch were MK Group founder and chief executive officer Dr Raymond Ang, supermodel Amber Chia, and International Celebrity Pageant Group (ICPG) advisors Datin Sri Puteri Irene Lai, Jenet Foo and Rowena San Naidu.
A series of auditions will be held in various locations to search for new face models, with the KL and Johor auditions just concluded recently.
Apart from Face of Malaysia 2022, Tan said they will also be staging the Face of Malaysia Junior 2022 competition for kids this year.
Co-organizing Face of Malaysia with Lennard Tan is Asia Model Festival director Raulen Lee, who was away in South Korea during the press launch.
Face of Malaysia 2022 will be presented by MK Group, a business organisation with diversified interests.
“I am proud to support and present Face of Malaysia this year, and look forward to sending more talented Malaysians to the international level so that they can make us proud and raise the name of our nation to the world,” said Dr Raymond Ang.
Amber Chia, founder and principal of Amber Chia Academy, has been announced as the principal judge for the Face of Malaysia 2022 competition.
“Face of Malaysia is not only looking for exotic or unique faces but is also looking at multi-talented individuals with unique personalities that can represent our nation proudly,” said Chia who thanked Tan for having Amber Chia Academy as its collaborative partner.
The Face of Malaysia competition is open to Malaysians females 18-28 years old (168cm and above) and male 18-32 years old (175cm and above). For the Junior category, there are three age groups 5-8 years old (Junior), 9-12 years old (Pre-Teen) and 13-17 years old (Teen).
The semi-finals of the competition will be staged in June while the grand final is expected to be held in mid-July.
Although the children in the junior category are not running for the international competition, about 10 to 12 kid qualifiers will be sent to South Korea to walk the runway in a special fashion showcase.
