Fans of modified cars, electric vehicle enthusiasts and those shopping for new cars can look forward to the International Modified (IAM) Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia International Motor Expo (MIME) 2023 which is set to take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur on October 27-29.
Endorsed by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the combined show is curated to showcase vehicles, products, innovations and latest development in automotive technology by automotive stake holders, car and motorcycle dealers, and original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
The IAM-MIME 2023 will incorporate three automotive genres under one roof.
The first is a showcase of new cars from legacy automakers and new marques.
Secondly, a dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) Fest that will showcase a variety of EVs with 400km range on a single charge and a range of prices from RM100,000 to RM500,000.
Among the vehicles on display will include Mercedes-Benz’s EQQ 350 sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a wide range of models from Mazda, KIA and Peugeot brought by Bermaz Auto Berhad.
Also on display will be a modified Tesla brought by Exotic Mods Sdn Bhd.
JPM Museo, a private collector of hypercars and iconic cars in Malaysia, and Utama Motors renowned for its supercar collection also participate the show.
The third component of the show will be a grand showcase of about 300 customized cars that form the epicenter of IAM display.
Ts Nizmar Mohd Nazar, the deputy chief executive officer of MARii, stated during the launch event at Mitec on Aug 23, 2023: “Beyond the promotion of the automotive industry, MARii’s agenda is very much aligned with Malaysia’s responsibility regarding energy transition and decarbonisation.
“On this note, I’m very happy to note that the organizers of the Malaysia International Motor Expo (MIME 2023) have focused on the Electric Vehicle (EV) mega trend and allocated a central location for the display of some of the leading EV brands in the world.”
Also present was MIME chairman YM Sharifah Wani Jamalullail.
MIME founder Yamin Vong said the show will allow visitors and potential buyers to experience test-drive electric vehicles. It will also be conducting a digital polling for the “Peoples’ Choice Car of the Year” and participants of this poll will also stand to win hourly prizes.
The “Peoples’ Choice Car of the Year” will be announced at a special Car of the Year Awards to be held on November 15, 2023.
Regarded as Southeast Asia’s largest car tuning and lifestyle show and competition, IAM has had the distinction of touring more than 38 cities throughout Indonesia since 2001 and has since expanded to hosting shows in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
“The show has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. There is a huge following and love for modified cars in the region especially in Malaysia and this is extremely evident from the high quality of cars on display,” said IAM founder Reza Aliwarga.
The show will also feature a variety of attractions such as racing simulators, RC (remote controlled) exhibit, numerous car club gatherings, royal exotic cars display, live music festival and lots of contest prizes and giveaways for the public.
