Herbalife Family Foundation provides food aid to boost nutrition of underprivileged children

Food aid for 100 families was contributed by Herbalife, through its corporate social responsibility arm, Herbalife Family Foundation as a part of its longstanding contributions towards Yayasan Chow Kit.

Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), the philanthropic arm of health and wellness company, Herbalife, recently strengthened its commitment to providing good nutrition and nutrition education to children in underserved communities.

In its fifth year of partnership with Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK) under the Casa Herbalife Program, the foundation continued its support by providing essential food aid for 100 families in need.

To-date, it has contributed about RM780,000 worth of aid to YCK, providing nutrition necessities to more than 500 children over the course of five years.

Present at the food aid distribution event held at KL Krash Pad day care centre in Kuala Lumpur, Steven Chin, the senior director and general manager of Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, said, “Our longstanding relationship with YCK is integral to HFF’s broader vision of promoting nutrition literacy within underprivileged communities, paving the way for a brighter and healthier future for these communities. Through this partnership, we gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by the children, enabling us to enhance our approach for fostering healthier lifestyles among them.”

In thanking Herbalife Family Foundation for the contribution, Yayasan Chow Kit chief executive officer Ananti Rajasingam said, ” The children have not only demonstrated improved concentration and increased engagement in school but have also shown remarkable improvements in their academic performance. Our goal is to establish a strong nutritional foundation from early childhood and with the help of HFF, we can do just that.”

Yayasan Chow Kit currently serves about 150 children, offering shelter and a safe space for both Malaysian and immigrant youth in the Chow Kit area.

Since its inception in 2010, the foundation has been dedicated to shielding children from local social ills and providing them with much-needed afterschool care and education, as a large demographic of people in the area are socioeconomically disadvantaged and do not have access to such facilities.

Herbalife Family Foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades of philanthropic efforts to support local communities.

Since 2006, Herbalife has contributed RM4.09 million to seven different NGOs through the Casa Herbalife Program in Malaysia. This year, it will continue giving back to disadvantaged children. It has allocated RM820,000 towards the Casa Herbalife Program partners in Malaysia, with grants to be provided to five charitable organisations, namely, The Good Samaritan Home, Hope Mission Welfare Society, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amitabha Malaysia, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Miskin Rukaiyah and YCK.
