The “Go For It!- FTKLAA Cross Country 2022” is back after a two-year break, and will be held on Sept 11 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur.
Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletic Association (FTKLAA) president Datuk Seri Dr V. Pulainthiran announced the launch of the 35th edition of FTKLAA Cross Country Run at a press conference held at OCM Sport Museum on July 18.
“The annual event, which was put on hold the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic would be back on September 11 this year,” he said.
Pulainthiran said they have made some changes in the race distances, with the 10km run extended to 15km and the 6.6km to 10km.
He also announced STM Lottery, formerly known as Sports Toto Malaysia, as the title sponsor for the event and thanked the company for its continued support over the years.
STM Lottery senior communications manager Giam Say Khoon said it is time to bring back the annual cross country which was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, as the runners are eagerly waiting to join back the race.
“We are also very excited that we are once again able to promote a healthy lifestyle because exercise is always the most practical way to stay healthy and fit,” Giam said, and thanked FTKLAA for giving the opportunity to sponsor the event.
Giam added that the Go For It!-FTKLAA Cross Country is part of the company’s Helping Hands programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative to support social sustainability projects such as national sports development, festive donations, food bank and environmental conservation projects.
The run, which will take the runners through some jungle paths, slopes and tarred roads, is divided into men’s and women’s 15km, 7km, 3km (kids run) and the 5km Fun Run category designed for family participants.
Other than cash prizes totaling RM10,950 for the winners, all participants also stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes.
