Food delivery company foodpanda Malaysia has contributed RM50,000 worth of flood relief aid to communities affected by the recent flood in east coast states.

The charitable initiative by foodpanda Malaysia is the second consecutive year that the organization is partnering with the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) in the flood relief efforts.

The donation items include daily essentials such as mineral water, biscuits beverages, sugar, instant noodles, milk products and sanitary pads.

All these items are to be delivered and distributed by Mindef to affected areas nationwide, with most of it targeted at critical areas in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

Foodpanda Malaysia’s operations director Kelvin Chan and new verticals director Afzan Lutfi handed over the contributions to Mindef secretary-general Dato’ Sri Muez Abd Aziz at Mindef.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Mindef’s management services secretary Mohd Shahrizal Mohd Nor and finance division under-secretary Lieutenant Colonel (Honorary) Datuk Muhamad Zamani Mohd Ali.

Foodpanda Malaysia operations director Kelvin Chan said that the best part of being Malaysian is the sense of unity and togetherness among the people, especially in the face of adversity.

“Together with the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (Mindef), we hope to make a difference in society through all that we do. Though small, we believe that our efforts can go a long way in helping them deal with the after effects of the floods,” he said.

“The reason that we have chosen to partner with the Ministry of Defence this time around is because of their strong logistic capabilities to reach all those that have been affected by the flood. We truly appreciate the hard work and dedication of these unsung heroes for their effort in helping us deliver items to those in need,” added Chan.
