In conjunction with the recent Deepavali celebration, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) councillor Jeyaseelan Anthony organised a distribution of essential grocery items and goodies to the poor and needy Indian families living in and around Petaling Jaya area.
The event was held on November 24, 2012 at Balai Raya Kampung Lindungan, Jalan PJS 6/2, Desa Mentari in Petaling Jaya where 150 poor families from Sungei Way, Desa Mentari flat, Taman Aman flat and Bestari flat received their food hampers.
DUN Bukit Gasing special assistant Kasthuri Patto officiated at the event and handed over the food hampers to the families who included widows and single-parents.
She hoped the small contribution would help the families ease their financial burden.
