Comic Fiesta 2015 was buzzing with excitement with anime, comic and game (ACG) characters came to life at Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC) as fans lived out their fantasy transforming into different fictional characters during the 2-day ACG annual fan convention held from Dec 18 – 19.

Amongst them was cosplayer Amanda Ngu, 21 from Miri, Sarawak, who walked around in costume as Archer-ko Illya from Japanese manga series Fate. Ngu said she loved dressing up in costumes as it sparks her aliveness.

“I love to cosplay Illya because her heroic spirit and her dress mid-transformation make me feel happy and alive again. She has hidden powers which she used them to transform to Archer-ko Illya to fight the evils,” said Ngu.

The Curtin University Sarawak student said she flew all the way from the Northern Borneo State excited to meet up everyone at the convention.

“I am having so much fun here and interacting with other cosplayers.”

Another cosplayer Vincent Tan, 20, who is studying culinary arts said he loved cosplay guns and proudly showed off a special gun known as “The Dominator” from anime series “Pyscho Pass” and another assault rifle from video game series “Call of Duty”.

This year, Comic Fiesta 2015 which opened for the first time at MIECC in Seri Kembangan saw one of the largest attendees, over 45, 000 fans despite the venue being known for its huge traffic jams and quite a distance from the city centre. Comic Fiesta has held previous events at KLCC.

There were dozens of other floor activities, including one of the biggest creative art markets with nearly 300 booths offering works from talented artists across the region, and special guests appearance by international celebrity cosplayers from Japan, Taiwan and Philippines sharing their knowledge and fun experiences.
