Delegates from around the world who will contend for the titles of Miss and Mrs UniWorld and Miss & Mrs Millennium Universe on June 12, 2022 at W Hotel, Kuala Lumpur have begun arriving.
UniWorld and Millennium Universe Pageants founder and chief executive officer Dato’ Reiss Tiara said nearly 40 contestants, including from Malaysia, are set to participate in the inaugural UniWorld Pageant and Millenium Universe Pageant finals which will be held back-to-back.
“We are gearing up for the big day where four crowns will be won in two pageants on one eventful night.
“Some of the international delegates are arriving in stages from now. Malaysia will have national representatives in the international finals for the world titles,” she said.
Reiss said she started the pageant system with the goal of empowering women while promoting tourism and culture.
“We are not a beauty pageant intrinsically but a motivational and inspirational networking platform for the world to connect in Malaysia to promote our culture and attract more tourists – that is our motto.
“While I’m doing all these, I’m attracting many foreigners to join me in Malaysia and indirectly I’m bringing in tourism and foreign money,” she said.
Reiss disclosed that the pageants have been supported and endorsed by Tourism Malaysia, an agency under the ambit of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC).
“We are happy to announce that we just got approved by Tourism Malaysia recently as one of their endorsed projects. We are officially confirmed to use Tourism Malaysia logo. We are here to promote tourism and culture with Tourism Malaysia,” she said.
The pageants will feature national costume and evening gown competitions. There will be no swimsuit round.
Prior to the grand coronation night, the delegates are scheduled to take a city tour around Kuala Lumpur, attend catwalk and empowerment sessions and visit a charity site.
“We only want women to feel empowered and full of positive support and energy like a support group but we do want to look beautiful at the same time. This is the reason you see young and matured, successful business women in my platform. We just purely want some kind of support to make our inner self more fulfilling,” Reiss said.
The delegates will visit the BCWA breast cancer awareness center in Petaling Jaya for a charity event.
Reiss said the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) was chosen because it helps create awareness around breast cancer and supports empowerment among people affected by it.
“The female breasts are an important organ and aid breastfeeding, but if a breast cancer patient died, then a child lost a mother and husband lost a wife. We have beautiful breasts; we must learn to protect them so that our kids will have a mother,” she added.
The 2022 UniWorld and Millennium Universe Pageant winners get to go home with a number of prizes, including trips to Maldives and Desaru Coast resort, Johor; jewellery, Eucerin skincare products and hand-made heels.
The Maldives trip is sponsored by Velana Hotel Maldives, while the Desaru Coast is sponsored by Amerald Resort Hotel.
