Mrs. Malaysia Planet 2021 Dr Sudhashini Nair will be representing the country at the international Mrs Planet beauty pageant competing against delegates from over 20 countries.
The Mrs Planet pageant finals will be held in Bulgaria from July 10 to 16, 2022.
“I feel grateful and humble representing my country. Most importantly I want to show Malaysia’s unique culture and diversity,” said Sudhashini, who will be leaving for Bulgaria on July 9.
Sudhashini from Ampang, Selangor, has been crowned as champion in Mrs Malaysia Planet 2021/2022 held on Dec 11 last year. She has a PhD in organizational behaviour, and is a senior lecturer attached to the Faculty of Business and Accounting, SEGi University.
“I have been preparing myself in terms of catwalk and understanding our Malaysian ecosystem and biodiversity, and also making sure to read more on our history and culture,” said the 43-year-old and mother to a 9-year-old son.
When asked what she thinks will be her greatest strength to win the Mrs Planet 2022 title, she said, “My strengths will be my experience in pageantry and knowledge on global warming. I will do my best.”
Sudhashini had won her first pageant title of Miss Malaysia Dream Girl of the Year in 2004. She sees beauty pageants a good thing.
“Beauty pageants are a place for women to share their love for beauty and issues pertaining to women.”
Mrs. Planet is an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness.
“It’s important to take care of the environment in a sustainable way. I am doing my part by practising the 3R’s in the home.
“Since I am involved in research, so I am also researching more about our policies on energy usage and conservation,” said Sudhashini who aspires to be a role model especially on issues pertaining to global warming.
Madam Lim Siew Cheng, managing director of Yinzi Event & Marketing and organizer of Mrs Malaysia Planet 2021 pageant said she is proud of Sudhashini representing the nation on the international stage and believes she would deliver her best.
“As Malaysians, we are proud to have a representative in this international event. We hope to hear good news upon her return soon,” said Lim in wishing Sudhashini all the best in the competition.
Sudhashini will wear a Borneo-themed national costume during the national costume round of Mrs Planet 2022 and a green planet costume during the costume segment on planet earth.
Both costumes are created by Borneo Republic Malaysia Creations.
