Dhayalini P G Doraisamy and Yuwen Syaaran are crowned the female and male winner of Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024 respectively.

A total of 18 contestants participated in a glittering finale at the Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel in Petaling Jaya on May 18, 2024.

The competition was fierce as there were many qualified contestants but ultimately Dhayalini, 36, a lawyer from Kuala Lumpur, beat out the other contestants to emerge as the female champion while Yuwen, 22, an interior architecture student and freelance model, also from Kuala Lumpur was pronounced the male champion.

“Dhayalini and Yuwen will now represent Malaysia to complete in the world finale of Super Model Universe 2024 that will take place in Kuala Lumpur for the second time on this November,” said organiser Supermodel Universe Malaysia national director Ammetta Malhotra.

Ammetta and her advisor Dr Raja Putra mooted the idea to introduce the petite category this year for local Malaysians and foreign participants, giving them the opportunity to build their personal brand through Super Model search.

Ammetta expressed her gratitude to main sponsors which supported the event, including Smart Master and XES shoes.

The Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024 competition also crowned three other winners in different categories – Super Model Universe Malaysia Petite 2024; Super Model Universe International 2024 and Super Model Universe International Petite 2024 for foreign participants residing in Malaysia.

Durgashini Battikrishnan, 31, a psychologist, won the Super Model Universe Malaysia Petite 2024; Selly Robert, 22, a student from Seychelles was named the Super Model Universe International 2024 while Riri, 23, a computer science student from Mauritia triumphed in the international petite category. However, the winners in these categories will not be participating in the international competition.

Dhayalini is proud of what she accomplished. Being her first pageant, Dhayalini did not expect to win. She was overjoyed at being crowned Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024.

“I cannot believe it. I feel truly incredible being crowned Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024. It made me realize that hard work, dedication and the right people by your side are really important in advocating one’s success.

“Prior to joining Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024, I did not have any pageant experience. However, along the way, I have learnt from great people in this industry such as Ammetta and Mala on how to present myself and gain experience in this field,” she said.

The 173 cm (5′ 8″) tall lady also took the Most Popular subsidiary title.

Dhayalini always wanted to be a model. That was her childhood dream. Now that dream has become a reality.

“It has been my childhood dream of becoming a model. When I was a child, I would always parade and do poses in front of my mirror. However, with reality kicking in, I took a different path and had given up on this dream early on.

“I was requested this year as to whether I would be interested to join this pageant, and taking it as some form of sign from the universe, I immediately said yes. I truly believe being in a pageant such as this does not only motivate but also inspires someone such as me to never give up and dare to dream big.”

Asked what preparation she will take on winning the next beauty pageant in Super Model Universe 2024, Dayalini said, “I am excited about what comes next but at the same time I am aware that it is wholly a different level of preparation because now I am competing with winners from other countries.

“Portraying a consistent image is very important when you just have minutes to make an impression.

“Therefore, I need to work harder, be mentally and physically prepared for the next stage. I have to ensure that I am good in terms of my appearance, being healthy and continuously train to enhance my catwalk skills as well as poses.”

Dhayalini was thankful to Ammetta, Mala and other industry experts for their guidance that helped her during the preparation process of competition.

Just like Dhayalini, Yuwen is also a newcomer to the pageant scene. This was his first time participating in a pageant and he ended up winning the Super Model Universe Malaysia 2024 title in the male group.

“I feel amazing and incredibly rewarding. It’s a validation of my hard work, dedication and passion for modeling.

“At the same time huge thanks to my family and all my loved ones who supported me throughout thus journey,” he said.

The 174 cm (5′ 8½”) tall interior architecture student and freelance model man also won the Best Catwalk and Most Eloquent subsidiary titles.

Yuwen, who is a mix of Indian, Filipino and Australian, is an NGO advocate for social issues by raising awareness and knowledge through various activities. He believed that the pageant gave him the platform to expose his talents and individuality.

“I want to be Super Model Universe because it’s an incredible platform to showcase my talent, and to be a role model that inspires others to pursue their dreams in the fashion industry.”

Yuwen said he will be making adequate preparations to help him shine onstage in the world final.

“I’m really excited. I’ll focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, to learn more from the professionals and getting mentally and physically prepared for the rigours of the competition at an international level.”

Selly Robert from Seychelles overcame the odds when she was crowned Super Model Universe International 2024.

Juggling between the competition and her studies, especially with it coinciding with her exam week, this promising 22-year-old student proved that you could make all your dreams come true with hard work, perseverance and determination.

“The journey was challenging, filled with stress and pressure, but through perseverance and determination, I achieved my goal. I had a vision, and I remained steadfast in my pursuit. I hope that my experience and relentless work ethic will inspire others to chase their dreams unapologetically, no matter the obstacles,” said Selly.
