This was revealed at the Dugem Festival Countdown (DFC) 2025 official launch and press conference held at The Wolf Club in Metro Pudu Mall, Kuala Lumpr on Nov 25, 2024.
Muhammad Adnan Mohd Dicky, the spokesman for DFC 2025, stated during the launch event: “By hosting this event, we aim to unite citizens of the Nusantara (maritime Southeast Asia) region irregardless of their differing ages, ethnicity or cultural heritage, in a fun, welcoming and exciting dance festival.”
Adnan added: “Dugem, which originates from Indonesia, has made inroads into Malaysia since 2014 and has fast become a phenomena in Malaysia over the years.”
Also present at the event were Mycom Entertainment principals Mohd Norzaidi Mohamed and Abu Bakar Ramlan-Abu who were on hand to take questions from the members of the media.
Mycom Entertainment is the official organiser of the festival.
The DFC 2025 will feature a diverse group of established and emerging local Dugem deejays and at least two top female Indonesian Dugem stars on the day leading their fans into the new year.
Dugem which stands for “Dunia Gemelapan” is a type of soulful dance music genre popularised in dance clubs in Indonesia.
Although the genre has made inroads into Malaysia over the past 10 years, with at least 10 Dugem dance clubs attracting party goers locally to date, it will be the very first time such a festival of its nature will be held in Malaysia.
The rain or shine open air festival with a slew of international and local artistes will begin from 3.00 pm and end at 1.00 am.
The complete lineup of acts and other details were revealed during the press conference. Many of these stars were on hand to meet the media and share their musical passion.
Headliners to the festival include Indonesian Dugem acts Cipydot and Icha Kharoline who are explosive viral stars in their home country and also well-known beyond their borders.
The local acts include Yonn, DJ Alyph, Jyn, Kent Wukong, DJ Ajijie, Debi Echa, Freezy Freez, Alongputra, Manz, Mirul Twin Tech, Baeby and DJ Yahoo. Many of these local acts are also well-known in the EDM scene.
“We hope that we will also get the full support of Dugem fans from Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and East Malaysia, in making this very first Dugem festival in Penisular Malaysia, an event to unite each other,” Adnan added.
More acts, including one more international act, are expected to be announced in time.
“We regularly do events at KL Base but this is the very first time we are doing a Dugem event, and we look forward to your support to make it a successful one,” chipped in event organiser Abu Bakar.
Facilities available at the festival include F&B booths, food trucks and portable toilets and a proper mosque in the vicinity for those who wish to fulfil their religious obligations.
Parking bays are available at the venue. The rates will be RM10 per car and free for motorcycles.
