Malaysia’s largest and longest-running animation, comics and games (ACG) convention, Comic Fiesta returned in a big way for its 21st year from Dec 21-22, 2024.

The two-day ACG convention has filled the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre to capacity with over 70,000 attendees in a massively jam-packed weekend.

The must-go event for illustrators, comic artists, cosplayers and fans has sold all of its tickets.

Continuing the festivities from last year’s event, Comic Fiesta has upped the ante again with one of the biggest creative art market in the region with over 600 unique artists and booths, sprawled across several halls within the convention centre, catering to a wide swathe of ACG fandom, including those who were here to sell their own original works, as well as cosplayers who have come to meet and interact with their adoring fans.

The event featured a wide variety of activities, including competitions, artist meet and greet, musical performance and panels, with a larger number of attendees participating in cosplay by wearing costumes of their favourite characters from anime, video game series, comic books, television or movies.

Japanese anisong singer Suzuki Konomi and pop rock band Myth & Roid vocalist Kihow wowed attendees singing songs from various anime titles between them at the closing act of Comic Fiesta 2024.

Supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Ats and Culture Malaysia, (Motac), the special concert was a collaboration between Comic Fiesta, Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur and the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia.

Lim Chin Hwa, the event director for Comic Fiesta said, “Comic Fiesta 2024 is an amalgamation of creativity and diversity, both new and old, classic and futuristic, and it’s great that both the past and future can be celebrated by all walks of life, both young and old. There’s something for everyone here, and we can’t wait to see how the creative industry will grow and thrive as a whole.”
