Chinese New Year (CNY) is around the corner, and Central Market, Kuala Lumpur is bringing together a celebration of local talents and tradition for the first time since the nation was shaken by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Themed “Reuniting in Togetherness” to celebrate the Year of the Tiger, Central Market is holding a CNY festive bazaar which runs for 16 days from January 8-23, 2022, 10am – 7pm and special performances on weekends as well as themed giveaways and promotions throughout its timeline.
The bazaar features more than 30 selections of local businesses and talents. Shoppers will be able to shop for their Chinese New Year items and necessities such as cheongsam and tiffin carrier, alongside traditional food, home decor items and live plants.
There will be a variety of cultural performances on weekends comprising traditional lion dance, mask-changing, diabolo performance, Chinese orchestra and busking, as well as candy giveaways.
“As we safely make way for gatherings again, we would like to provide a space for everyone regardless of race and nationality here to experience the joy of a Chinese New Year celebration,” Central Market Sdn Bhd director Bengamin Bong.
Bong added, “With a bazaar full of symbolic activities and lively performances curated especially for the public, we hope to create a meaningful reunion to make up for the celebrations that we all have missed due to Covid-19.”
