With the arrival of the Year of the Snake, Sungei Wang Plaza presents its Chinese New Year campaign, “Sungei Wang Fortune Town,” a celebration that seamlessly blends Chinese heritage with modern creativity, inspired by the iconic comic character Old Master Q.

From Jan 10 to Feb 12, 2025, shoppers are invited to experience the vibrant charm of a retro 90s town, brought to life in collaboration with Mindfreakxx and the iconic Old Master Q (老夫子), alongside official Radio Station, GOXUAN, Official TV and 8TV, with Magnum as event sponsor.

Through the creative partnerships, the campaign brings a fresh and immersive twist to traditional celebrations.

“Chinese New Year is a time for reunion, blessings and celebration, and we are dedicated to provide customers with a festive experience that blends tradition with modernity, allowing everyone who visits to feel the vibrant New Year atmosphere,” said Sungei Wang Plaza general manager Joseph Teo.

Sungei Wang Plaza is transformed into a hub of festive excitement and nostalgia. As visitors are greeted at the main entrance by the iconic Old Master Q at the C-Bus Stop – a picture-perfect photo spot capturing the charm of 90s nostalgia.

Beyond the entrance, the journey continues with Lantern Street at Sungei Wang Walk, adorned with vibrant red lanterns that exude festive Chinese New Year vibes.

Inside the mall, the theme transforms into a retro 90s Town, where comic-style illustrations and iconic elements transport visitors to the golden era of Old Master Q.

The enchanting pathway mirrors the aesthetics of classic Hong Kong neighborhoods, offering a delightful nostalgic experience. Among the highlights are Freakxxtiam and Freakxxmart, quirky spaces styled like 90s tailor shops and showcasing Mindfreakxx’s latest fashion collection.

Chinese New Year Marketplace invites visitors to indulge in festive specials, featuring traditional cookies, Chinese brew-crafted tea, cultural costumes, festive decorations and snacks.

Visitors embark on a classic retro journey, revisiting the unique charm and comic colors of the 90s at the ‘Fortune Town’ with Old Master Q’s humorous figures, transformed into street illustrations, sharing those nostalgic moments.
