Malaysia’s No. 1 rock punk band Bunkface performed to a capacity crowd to mark their 15 years in show business with ‘Bunkface! 15 Yeas of Korang’ concert at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on July 30 and 31, 2022.
The crowd numbered at around 10,000 at the two-night sold-out concert that lasted for two hours according to some estimates.
The concert featured band members Sam, Youk, Pa’an and Biak rocking the stage with an energetic and mesmerizing performance
Bunkface started the concert off with the new single “I Miss You” and followed by “Welcome to the Rock Show” to thunderous applause from fans.
Almost 29 hit songs were performed from all of its studio albums such as the new single I Miss You, Korang, Situation, Malam Ini Kita Punya and Revolusi, with the fans sang along to the songs.
Bunkface manager Farizz was happy to see the large turnout at the concert. “Just one word, fantastic! That’s the atmosphere felt on the first night of Bunkface’s performance on the Zepp KL stage. We didn’t anticipate it would be that huge turnout, and the tickets were sold out on both days of the show,” he said.
“The audience attending the concert is on average belongs to the new generation, ages 21 and above, as this group started getting to know us as early as 12 years old. Many are also first-time attendees with positive experiences to the concert. Most of them said it was an unforgettable night and one of the best nights they’ve ever had,” said lead vocalist and guitarist Sam, adding, “Thank you for the support of everyone who has been loyal to us for 15 years.”
The fans couldn’t be more excited for the concert gimmicks which had never seen before performed by the band.
“Among the gimmicks we highlighted on the night of the concert was the appearance of the original van which became a historic symbol of Bunkface, how we started by just creating songs in the van and doing gigs here and there riding in the van as well.
“This is a good start for us because after this we are planning to hold a performance in Indonesia, in addition to Malay and English singles that will be released this year as well as the upcoming fifth studio album that will be completed soon,” said Bunkface bass guitarist Youk.
Concert co-organizer Hitman Solutions chief executive officer and founder Rohit Rampal said the concert was amazing and went beyond expectations as they did not expect such a good response from concert goers.
“It turns out that Malaysians are thirsty for physical entertainment such as concerts that could not be held for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and now is the time for us to return to entertainment with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place,” he said.
The Bunkface! 15 years of Korang concert is supported by Tourism Malaysia, Penjana, MyCreative Ventures, Waka, main sponsor OctaFX, as well as the official radio partners Hot FM and Fly FM.
