More than 900 fitness enthusiasts, families and fun-seekers thronged Tropicana Aman, Kota Kemuning for Tropicana Corp Bhd’s fifth signature cycling event, Tropicana go-go-FIT Cycle on August 28, 2022.
Fostering healthy lifestyles in the spirit of the Merdeka month, Tropicana go-go-FIT featured fun carnival activities and lucky draws for visitors, as well as refreshments and cool drinks at a food truck area.
The event was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
The programme featured a 20km fun ride showcasing the township’s 85 acres Central Park, as well as an 80km elite ride to Banting supervised by commissaires from the Malaysian National Cycling Federation.
For the elite 80km group, there were Women’s Open, Men’s Under 18, Men’s Under 23, Men’s A (23-34 years old), Men’s B (35-44 years old) and Men’s C (45 years old & above).
There were 30 race marshals, two ambulances and paramedics on standby in ensuring the safety and security of participants and visitors.
Winners received plaques, as well as jerseys and cash prizes up to RM650.
Three lucky draw sessions saw participants walked away with prizes such as a Tirich road bike, foldable bikes and cash vouchers contributed by the event sponsors.
The event also saw the donation of 105 care packs to the underprivileged community from two homes by Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana.
“Through Tropicana go-go-FIT Cycle, we are delighted to bring people from all walks of life together to foster healthy lifestyles, while showcasing Tropicana Aman as a walking and biking community.
“At the same time, we donated essential food and care packs to assist the underprivileged in and around Kota Kemuning, such as Orang Asli settlements and children in need,” said Tropicana’s deputy chief executive officer Joanne Lee.
The aid recipients were the House of Love Children’s Home and Bukit Cheeding Community Management Council. Donated essentials include rice, canned foods, cooking oil, sanitiser and cleaning detergent.
In addition, Tropicana’s agriculture arm, Greenhouse Farm & Fishery contributed fresh vegetables such as green spinach, lady fingers and Chinese broccoli to 75 Orang Asli families in Kampung Orang Asli Bukit Cheeding, as well as 24 children and six caretakers in the House of Love.
