Tropicana brings cheer to children from Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari

In the spirit of Ramadan, Tropicana Foundation recently brought joy to 20 children from Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Shah Alam.

Tropicana Corporation Berhad teamed up with socialtainment site OhBulan! to bring festive cheer to underprivileged children of Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Shah Alam.

In conjunction with Ramadan, 20 children from the home were invited for a fun day of shopping and exciting activities at Tropicana Gardens Mall and the Tropicana Heights Central Park, as well as buka puasa at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort.

Their outing was documented by OhBulan! and hosted by the ever-energetic Danial Nawawi, whose lively personality brightened up the day as he guided the children through their celebrations.

As seen in the festive short Tropicana Warnai Adilfitri Dengan Mendefinisi Semula Seni Kehidupan Mereka, the charitable endeavour saw the donation of essentials such as face masks, furniture, kitchenware, and electronics such as fans, television and printer, as well as footwear and books to the orphanage home.

Tropicana group executive director Jared Ang conveyed the principles driving Tropicana’s charitable initiatives, as well as the importance of delivering assistance to underprivileged community.

“Every single year without fail, Tropicana engages with communities celebrating Ramadan. This year, we decided to do something different. With the opening up of standard operating procedures, we decided to host a day of fun and exciting activities to cheer up children in need,” he said.

The visit began at Tropicana Heights’ lush 16 acres Central Park, where the children enjoyed a morning of fun in the sun next to the development’s picturesque 750m linear lake. Their itinerary included activities such as cycling, basketball and traditional games while taking in the scenery of the surrounding amenities.

The outing continued to Tropicana Gardens Mall, where the children received duit raya packets and were treated to shopping at BookXcess and Sports Paragon.

BookXcess donated educational titles such as Wonders of The Ancient World, Lightspeed: Dinosaurs, and Knowledge Encyclopedia: Space! Children were also invited to select one book of their choice as well as a stationery set to bring home.

At Sports Paragon, the children chose shoes from brands such as Peak and Kronos to set the pace for the coming year.

The children’s day out ended with a sumptuous buka puasa feast at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort’s Santapan 29 Malam themed buffet dinner.

Established in 2010, Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari began as a home for 30 children. Today, it supports over 160 children and the needy across eight homes.

Tropicana’s outreach programme to the home is in line with the goals of Tropicana Foundation, the developer’s corporate social responsibility arm, with the aim of engaging and uplifting underprivileged segments of society.

Since its inception in 2011, Tropicana Foundation has channelled over RM23 million to charitable causes across Malaysia in line with its emphasis on environmental, social and corporate governance principles.
