Property developer TropicanaCorporation Berhad will renovate and upgrade the Pantai Kok Rest and Recreation Centre’s existing facilities to better serve the Langkawi community.
The new RM2.5 million Pantai Kok Rest and Recreation centre, a joint collaboration with the Langkawi state government, will feature enhanced commercial lots, washroom, surau and parking facilities and is set for completion on the 3rd quarter of this year.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new R&R centre was officiated by Kedah state legislative assembly speaker and Air Hangat state assemblyman Datuk Juhari Bulat in Langkawi on March 2.
Tropicana executive director (project) Khoo Thian Shyang said that the groundbreaking marked another milestone for the company, signifying its commitment to building a sustainable and vibrant township in Langkawi.
“The Pantai Kok R&R centre stands at the threshold of Tropicana’s upcoming development in the area, and we are proud to be the partner of Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan as we work hand-in-hand to uplift the community,” he said.
Khoo said this in line with Tropicana Foundation’s core focus on Redefining the Art of Caring as well as Tropicana’s commitment as a community builder.
The Pantai Kok R&R Centre sits on a 0.49-acre parcel of land donated by Tropicana to the state of Langkawi.
The renovation works include the expansion of the centre’s existing facilities from five to eight commercial lots. The refurbished building will include an enhanced washroom, surau and carpark amenities with more than 70 parking bays for cars, motorcycles and bicycles.
The Pantai Kok R&R Centre complements Tropicana’s upcoming Pantai Kok project, a 44.61-acre integrated mixed development. It is part of the developer’s 127.84-acre landbank in Langkawi, with parcels in Tanjung Rhu, Pulau Rebak Kecil and Bukit Mali.
Its latest homes in Tropicana Cenang comprise modern seaview serviced suites across 5.28 acres on the Pantai Cenang beachfront.
The Tropicana Foundation spearheads Tropicana’s approach to social dimensions, in line with the company’s emphasis on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
The Foundation was launched in 2011 and encompasses outreach programmes to underprivileged segments of society and addresses environmental issues and social impacts. Since its inception, the foundation has donated more than RM23 million to various charitable causes.
