More than 400 families from the B40 group in Semenyih, Selangor were given essential food aid by Boustead Properties Berhad through its CSR initiative #BousteadCares to ease the burden and alleviate the hardship faced amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Boustead Properties chief operating officer Eason Phan said employees and volunteers have extended a helping hand in supporting the initiative to aid these people who are facing daily challenges, some of whom are even finding the most basic necessities beyond their reach.
“As a socially responsible developer, the well-being of the wider community surrounding the Mutiara Hills township that we are building in Semenyih is important to us. We sincerely hope our humble contribution can play a small role to ease the burden of the communities affected by the pandemic,” he said.
Phan added that the CSR initiative was in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to end hunger by addressing the food needs of vulnerable communities.
Each family received basic food supplies such as non-perishable food items and essentials, while those with young children also received baby formula and diapers.
The affected families were identified from among households in Semenyih most impacted by the pandemic as listed on the digital platform, kitajagakita.com, a non-governmental organization set up to boost relief efforts for severely impacted communities.
