Malaysia names four esports athletes to compete at APMC 2026 in Thailand

Malaysia is sending four top esports racing athletes to the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship 2026 (APMC 2026) at the Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand, from October 23 to 25.

The national contingent consists of Nabil Azlan and Iqbal Suji in Assetto Corsa, alongside Raja Amirul Syauqat and Ethen Low in iRacing.

All four athletes earned their places on the national esports squad after finishing in the top two positions of their respective national qualifying competitions, sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM).

Nabil Azlan is a 24-year-old Malaysian professional sim and real-world racing driver. He is the reigning Toyota Gazoo Racing Malaysia e-Racing Pro Class champion, the 2026 MAM Festival of Speed Esport category winner, and secured a silver medal at the 2025 iRacing event.

This year, he has switched from iRacing to the Assetto Corsa category for the APMC 2026, aiming to improve on his 2025 iRacing silver medal.

Joining Nabil in Assetto Corsa is Iqbal Suji, 28, an accomplished sim racer with international competition experience. Iqbal was a finalist in the Gran Turismo World Series 2023 Nations Cup and the FIA Rally Star Asia pacific final. His experience competing against some of the region’s and world’s best virtual racers will be a valuable asset as he makes his APMC debut.

In the iRacing category, Raja Amirul Syauqat, 22, is making his APMC debut, having earned his spot after establishing himself as the champion of the 2026 MAM eRacing GP National Championship. With proven competitive credentials, he is aiming to translate his domestic success into international podium finish.

He will be joined by 16-year-old Ethen Low, who currently leads the Rookies Championship and recently claimed victory in the Young Dreamers category at the Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Malaysia 2026.

The participation of the Malaysian esports athletes has been made possible with the support of Esports Integrated (ESI) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the Malaysia Esports Accelerator Program (MEAP).

Hosted by the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand (RAAT), APMC 2026 is expected to attract between 250 and 500 participants from 24 countries, competing across six motorsport disciplines.

The Asia-Pacific Motorsport Championship is a multi-discipline motorsport competition bringing together athletes representing their national sporting authorities from across the region to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals
