Comic Fiesta 2025 draws thousands of fans and cosplayers

Comic Fiesta, Malaysia’s premier animation, comics and games (ACG) event returned for its 2025 edition, drawing thousands of cosplayers and ACG fans from across Malaysia and Southeast Asia to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre over the weekend Dec 20-21, 2025.

For over two decades, Comic Fiesta has served as a cornerstone for the regional ACG community, offering a vibrant platform for creative expression, fandom gathering and industry engagement.

The two-day festival featured a diverse range of activities catering to every facet of the ACG culture, including artist alley, cosplay market, guest meet-and-greet, cosplay competition and nighttime entertainment.

Cosplayers showcased impressive creativity with their wigs, makeup and costumes, bringing their favourite characters to life.

This year’s international guest lineup featured author Aizawa Daisuke of ‘Eminence in Sadow’, scriptwriter Makoto Uezu of ‘Assassination Classroom the Movie: Our Time”, voice actors Aoi Ichikawa as Rudo from “Gachiakuta” and Mai Fuchigami as Nagisa Shiota in the Assassination Classroom series, illustrators Redjuice and Nekojira and Japan top game developer Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Also featured was Malaysian video game developer Wan Hazmer, renowned for his role as the lead game designer for Final Fantasy XV at Tokyo’s Square Enix.

For the first time, Comic Fiesta has also brought in famed anime composers Yuki Hayashi (Haikyuu!!, My Hero Academia) and Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto Shippuden, Boruto) who gave an insight on how they produced background music for their shows.

Throughout the two nights of Comic Fiesta, visitors were serenaded by popular Japanese artistes Machico and legendary trio ClariS as well as local and international DJs, namely DJ Blink and Camellia.

The Hololive STAGE World Tour ‘25 Syncronize! was also held at the Plenary Hall of KLCC, igniting the stage with their renowned vocals.

The popular Artist Alley showcased the talents of over 600 independent local and regional artists, offering unique prints, merchandise, crafts and comics at the various halls.

The annual grand cosplay competition featured stunning costumes and stage performances, judged by international and local cosplay icons.

The various booth offered a wide selection of exclusive merchandise and limited-edition collectibles enticing collectors and fans alike.

“Comic Fiesta is more than just an ACG event; it’s a testament to the thriving creative ecosystem in Malaysia.

“We are committed to bringing the best of Japanese, regional and local content that fits the tastes of Comic Fiesta’s wide variety of visitors.

“This year, we are placing an even greater emphasis on promoting regional content as well as fostering creative collaborations across Southeast Asia,” said Comic Fiesta event director Hew Shih Chien.

Local and regional talents featured included Malaysian voice actors Su Ling Chan, known for her roles like Mayday (No Straight Roads) and Bailu (Honkai: Star Rail); Steven Bones (Ejen Ali, No Straight Roads) and Sam Yeow (Honor of Kings and Reverse: 1999 and No Straight Roads).

From Indonesia, comic artists Nurfadli Mursyid of Tahilalats and Melani Sie of MilkMochaBear also graced the event with their presence, giving fans an opportunity to meet with their favorite comickers in person.
