Mary Anne, aged 71, a mother of two and grandma of four, grabbed the eyes of many when she took to the catwalk, receiving loud applause for her beautiful way of carrying herself and her physical fitness!

grandma proved that she can still be pretty and stunning by taking part in a beauty contest for mothers.

Mary Anne, aged 71, a mother of two and grandma of four, grabbed the eyes of many when she took to the catwalk dressed in a beautiful violet gown and large, dangling earrings, receiving loud applause from the audience for her beautiful way of carrying herself; and her physical fitness!

The Canai Beauty Mum 2011 Pageant held in conjunction with the Canai International Technical Development’s second anniversary party attracted 31 moms who were clients of Canai’s “spectrum body shape-up suit” – a new kind of undergarment from China for shaping up the body using the latest “spectrum technology”.

More than 500 business partners, clients, sponsors and members of the media gathered for the gala night dinner held at the ballroom of PJ Hilton on Saturday. Guests arrived dressed to the nines in hues of blue and purple, in keeping with the night’s theme, Date of Violet Romance.

The mom beauty contest was a tough competition and Mary was up against some really good competitors. She impressed the judges and was picked as one of the last 10 finalists. The crown, however, eventually went to a younger mom of two, Chloe Teo, 27, a housewife, who won RM9,240 worth of prizes including a holiday to Australia.

“I take care of my health and stay in shape and keep fit playing golf and daily workout of yoga and pilates,” said Mary when asked about her secret elixir of youth.

“I entered the contest for the wonderful experience and fun. It was a fantastic evening. It makes my life fuller,” added Mary who started using Canai’s body shape-up undergarment after a recommendation from a friend.

“I feel comfortable wearing it and it helps relieve my back pain besides actually bringing my waist [measurement] down.”

Pageant winner, Chloe Teo, who also won the subsidiary title of Canai Photogenic, said she never expected to be crowned Canai Beauty Mum 2011.

“I thought everyone had an equal chance so I was really surprised to win this contest,” said the housewife and mother of two children.

“My family has been really supportive and proud of me.“

Chloe credits her healthy lifestyle of proper diet, regular workouts (jogging and walking) and the Canai shape-up undergarment, with helping her body regain its natural womanly curves after she delivered her second child.

“I weighed 68 kg after the birth of my second child, and through a friend’s recommendation, I started using the undergarment and soon my weight went down to 48 kg after about ten months usage,” she added.

The mum beauty contest was one of the exciting activities which also included Canai  undergarment fashion show and a spectacular performance by our very own wonder girls who wowed the audience with their rendition of the Korean hit song, Nobody.

Meanwhile, the guests enjoyed a bountiful and delicious eightcourse Chinese banquet dinner.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Canai International donated RM8,880 to the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Pudu, in a ceremony where a mock cheque was presented by its chairman Cima Xiong to Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Pudu chartered president, Danny KK Cheong.

The event was sponsored by Bio Max Health and Beauty, PJ Hilton, Glitter Venus, Cell Fusion C, UOVI and Tiger Head Confectionery.
