KUALA LUMPUR – Asia Comic Con Malaysia returns for its 2nd year at the Mid-Valley Exhibition Centre
Asia Comic Con Malaysia returns for its 2nd year on October 26-27, 2019 at the Mid-Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) in Kuala Lumpur.
The pop culture event showcased six unique zones dedicated to comics, movies, TV series, manga, anime, toys, gaming and cosplay where fans enjoyed a vast selection of exhibits, collectibles and interactive activities.
There were various exhibitors displaying pop culture brands, workshops on art spray, sword dance and cosplay armour, live comic sketching, cosplay skit contest, songs and dance performances, coswalk contest and J-pop performances by PHNX, MinRi and Higashi Kitty Band, and meet and greet sessions with overseas anime stars from Kiss Marry Kill as well as cosplay stars like Reikomaru.
Some of the main highlights in this year’s event were:
- Pokeman theme performance by American singer, writer, record producer and actor Jason Paige, best known for singing the first theme song for the English version of the Pokémon television series.
- Legendary anisong performance by Japanese singer Mika Kobayashi, who has contributed to multiple soundtracks of popular anime such as Shingeki no Kyojin, Gundam UC, Guilty Crown, and Ao no Exorcist; the television series Iryu 3.
- Live comic sketching by artists such as Scott Koblish whose most popular for his work on Marvel’s Deadpool, and Ario Anin, who has worked with both Marvel and DC.
- Live cosplay armour workshop by costumer, cosplayer, model and workshop presenter A.K. Wirru, from Australia, the champion of World Cosplay Summit 2019.
- Anisong spinning by deejay BenKun from Singapore.
