The Curve and next door eCurve shopping malls in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya came together to mark Malaysia’s 62nd year of independence with a variety of activities for patrons during the Merdeka weekend of August 31 to September 1, 2019.
At the Curve, a series of family friendly activities saw children queued to have their faces painted and participated in batik and flower pinwheel and Merdeka puppet workshop.
The sweet-toothed were in for a treat at a Merdeka-themed cookie decorating station while little ones were also entertained by clowns and with balloon sculptures.
Just a stone’s throw away, at eCurve, Malaysians witnessed the beauty and diversity of Malaysian culture through the Muhibbah Dance. The performance beautifully intertwined the traditional dances of Malaysia’s three main ethnic groups composed to their respective traditional musical instruments.
“We are touched to see our patrons embraced the patriotic spirit of unity and togetherness and love for the country. Organising this fun weekend is one way for us to provide visitors with an avenue to reflect on our past and to come together in unity,” said the Curve senior general manager Jazmi Kamarudin.
Acting centre manager Gina Long Ahmad said, “Once a year, Malaysians gather in unison to celebrate Merdeka and the illustrious history of our nation. For this special time of the year, we have created a campaign that showcased the beauty of Malaysia which brought our patrons together. I am confident that the Muhibbah performance created a memorable Merdeka day celebration for all.”
